01Who we are
LocalGenius is a website and marketing platform for Australian small businesses, run by LocalGenius, for businesses right across Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we keep it safe, and how you can see or delete it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
02What we collect
- Your account: name, business name, email, phone, business address, ABN, and your sign-in details.
- Your website content: pages, pictures, logos, services, prices, opening hours and posts you create in LocalGenius.
- Enquiries from your customers: messages, chats, quote requests and bookings sent through forms on your LocalGenius website.
- Billing: your plan and payment history. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Usage: pages visited in the app, device and browser type, and error logs, so we can keep the service working.
03Google user data (Google Analytics and Google Search Console)
When you choose Connect Google, you sign in with Google and approve read-only access. We ask only for:
- Google Analytics (read-only) —
analytics.readonly: visitor numbers, traffic sources and page views for the website you choose. - Google Search Console (read-only) —
webmasters.readonly: search clicks, impressions, average position and the search terms people used to find your site.
How we use it: only to show these numbers to you in your LocalGenius dashboard and in your monthly reports. We do not change anything in your Google accounts.
What we never do with Google data:
- We do not sell it.
- We do not use it for advertising, or to build ad profiles.
- We do not share it with anyone, except as needed to run the feature for you, to comply with the law, or with your clear permission.
- We do not let people read it, unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.
- We do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models.
Limited Use: LocalGenius's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage: sign-in tokens are encrypted at rest. Report numbers are stored only as long as you stay connected.
Removing access: press Disconnect under Settings › Integrations in LocalGenius, or remove LocalGenius at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. When you disconnect, we delete your Google tokens straight away and the Google numbers we stored within 30 days.
04Facebook, Instagram and other connected accounts
When you connect Facebook or Instagram, we ask only for what the features you turn on need: to read your page details, publish the posts you approve, and read the results of those posts and the messages sent to your page.
We use this only to run those features for you. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI. Disconnect any time under Settings › Integrations, or in Facebook's settings. When you disconnect, we delete your access tokens straight away and the page data we stored within 30 days. See Delete your data.
Other connections, such as ServiceM8, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Zapier, work the same way: only the access the feature needs, removed when you disconnect.
05Why we use your information
To run your website and account, show your enquiries, write and schedule posts you approve, send reports, take payments, give support, keep the service secure, and tell you about changes to the service.
07How long we keep it
While your account is open. If you close your account we delete or de-identify your data within 90 days, except records we must keep by law (such as tax invoices).
08Your choices
You can ask to see, fix or delete your information at any time by emailing privacy@localgenius.com.au. We reply within 30 days.
10Complaints
Email privacy@localgenius.com.au first. If you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and tell account holders by email.
