A fee quote before she's left for work.

Ben opens Karen's enquiry with his coffee and taps Quote. Her sketch comes across with it. He adds his own items, from the measure-up to the working drawings. GST is worked out and it's good for 30 days. Karen says yes at lunch, and on Thursday Ben's in her back yard with a tape.

Ben sends Karen the final set the way he always does. Then he snaps the plan next to her pencil sketch and says “Belmont granny flat, sketch to plans.” Genius adds the pair to his Projects page and his Granny flat plans page, and writes a post for Facebook and Instagram. Do I have to write anything?

No. Tell us what you draw and where, and LocalGenius writes your home page, a page for each kind of job and a page for each suburb. Want something changed? Type it to Ask Genius, like “add as-built plans to my services”.

Can people send a sketch or photos with their enquiry?

Yes. Your enquiry form has a spot for photos, so a sketch, a photo of the back yard or an old plan lands in your inbox with the message, the suburb and the page they came from.

Can I send a fixed fee quote?

Yes. Start it from the enquiry, add your own items, like the measure-up, concept plan and working drawings, and GST is worked out. Your fees never go on your website unless you want them to.

Will my clients' plans end up online?

Only if you choose. Genius writes posts from what you give it and waits for your OK. Show the suburb but not the street, leave names out, or keep a job off the site altogether.

Does LocalGenius deal with council or approvals?

No. LocalGenius looks after your website, enquiries, quotes, reviews and posts. The drawings, and anything to do with approvals, stay with you.
