Rego week at the Wattle Park Wombats

Run by volunteers. Answered like a front office.

Nobody at a junior club is paid to answer Facebook. Here's how LocalGenius covers the busiest week of the year, in the hour after dinner.

Est. 1978
Sharon, club secretary

A volunteer, like everyone at the Wattle Park Wombats in Melbourne's east. 14 teams, about 260 kids, one Facebook page that never goes quiet.

“When's rego? He was born in 2017, what age group is that?”

The same question, for the twentieth time tonight. Nat's message lands in one inbox with the Instagram DMs, website forms and emails, each marked with where it came from. Genius finds the answer on the club's own Teams page, writes the reply, and Sharon taps Send. It goes back on Facebook, where Nat asked.

Hi! When's rego? My son was born in 2017, what age group would he be in? First year playing 😊

Genius reply

Hi Nat, welcome to the Wombats! Born in 2017 means Under 10s. Rego opens tomorrow night on PlayHQ, and training starts Tuesday 3 Feb, 5pm at Wattle Park Reserve. Everything's here: wombatsjfc.com.au/teams. Sharon

First win of the year. The match report writes itself.

Practice match, Under 11 Girls, in the rain at Box Hill. Sharon types three lines from the canteen. Genius turns them into a news post for the website and a Facebook and Instagram post, and waits for her OK. Full fixtures and the ladder stay a tap away on PlayHQ.

It bucketed down at Box Hill, and our Under 11 Girls didn't mind one bit. Four goals in the second half sealed the club's first win of the year, with every player getting a touch in the last quarter.

A huge thank you to our canteen volunteers, who kept the soup going all morning. Want to help? Put your name down on the Canteen page.

A local bakery wants to sponsor a team. The Sponsors page does the pitch.

Tom from Ringwood Bakehouse fills in the form on the website. Genius replies with the Sponsors page, where the packages, the shirt and scoreboard spots and this year's sponsors are waiting. Sharon passes it to the sponsorship coordinator on Monday.

Questions

Things club committees ask us.

Something else? Email support@localgenius.com.au and a real person will get back to you.

Can parents register and pay on our website?

Through the tool you already use. Your Register button opens PlayHQ, TeamApp or Revolutionise, and rego and payments stay there. LocalGenius doesn't take registrations or payments itself.

How do fixtures and results get on the site?

Your Fixtures page links straight to your comp on PlayHQ, so it's always right. For the bits worth celebrating, type a few lines to Genius and it writes the match report for your News page and socials.

We're all volunteers. How much time does it take?

We build the site for you, page by page. After that it's replying to messages Genius has already written and approving posts, which most secretaries do in a few minutes after dinner.

Do posts go out without us seeing them?

Never. Genius writes them for your club and the time of the season, then they wait for your OK before going to Facebook, Instagram and your Google Business Profile.

Can we cancel in the off-season?

You can cancel any time, from Billing, and move up or down a plan whenever you like.

Families are searching. Be the club they find.

Get your club website up before rego opens, then let LocalGenius help with the messages, news, sponsors and posts all season.
